NICHOLS BROTHERS CRANE CREW ARE MORE THAN JUST EQUIPMENT OPERATORS, THEY HAVE MOVED 286,000 LBS., UTILIZING 4 CRANES TO DO SO.
Nichols Brothers Crane Crew is made up of Operators and Riggers who are responsible for safely moving, flipping, and setting heavy modules, material, machinery, and equipment around the shipyard and onboard vessels. They are experts in heavy equipment operation as well, not just cranes, with over 80 combined years of experience behind the controls at Nichols.
Nichols Brothers Operators are all certified through the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO); and continue training as new rules and regulations are set into place for the shipbuilding industry. Our operators are also individually driven to solve lifting requests inventively, assisting Nichols in continually improving our build process. Each member of the crew also enforces lift safety practices, making sure multi-million dollar material is moved and installed safely and efficiently.
Nichols Brothers Riggers support the Operators and are skilled in selecting and using various types of rigging hardware such as: ropes, slings, shackles, clamps, chain falls, and come-a-longs. Riggers also calculate weight factors and angles used in proper lifting and transferring of heavy loads. Riggers also ensure the proper loading of cranes when doing multiple crane lifts, and strictly enforce safety policies throughout the lift/move process.
