Nichols Brothers is lead by an executive team of experienced professionals across the shipbuilding industry. Nichols has formed an executive team highly qualified in Production Management, Engineering Management, Project Management, Financial Management, Personnel Management, and Customer Relations and Business Development.  It is Nichols Brothers philosophy to offer each customer a quality craftsmanship vessel, best value overall, and vessel operational excellence.  It is also Nichols priority to maintain a highly qualified front line production team. We do this by offering a safe work environment, rigorous training, and competitive compensation. We pride ourselves on our long-term employees and low turnover. We have the experienced shipbuilders teaching the next generations to come.

Mr. Higgins is responsible for the development of new business opportunities and cultivation of new business relationships, including working with industry groups, naval architecture firms, subcontractor and suppliers, to ensure Nichols maintains a prominent role in their respective operations. Prior to Nichols in 2012, Mr. Higgins worked as a General Manager of Shelbume Ship Repair with Irving Shipbuilding, Inc. Previously, Mr. Higgins served as Vice President and COO for Derecktor Shipyards in its Bridgeport, Connecticut facility and as Chief Engineer at its Mamaroneck, New York facility. Mr. Higgins is a degreed Naval Architect, a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects and a Member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) in the United States. Mr. Higgins serves on The American Bureau of Shipping’s (ABS) Committee on Small Vessels and is a member of the Shipbuilders Council of America. Mr. Higgins received an MBA from the University of Connecticut and a degree in Naval Architecture from Southampton College.
