NBBB Launches M/V National Geographic Venture
NICHOLS BROTHERS BOAT BUILDERS LAUNCHES LINDBLAD EXPEDITIONS’ NEWEST CRUISE VESSEL, M/V NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC VENTURE
SEPTEMBER 10, 2018
Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) was contracted by Lindblad Expeditions in December 2015, to construct two (2) new 100-guest passenger cruise vessels for expedition cruising in Coastal California; Baja, California; Alaska; the Pacific Northwest, Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize. The first vessel; the M/V National Geographic Quest has operated within the LEX fleet since July 2017, while the M/V National Geographic Venture launched Monday at Nichols Brothers shipyard in Freeland, Washington.
The 238’-6” x 44’ x 10’ Jones Act coastal cruise vessel is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built expedition vessel made for exploring coastal waters, shallow coves, and fast-moving channels where wildlife congregate; while sailing with the luxury of supreme comfort. Spacious cabins, open decks for wildlife viewing, and specialty tools for exploration make it the ideal platform for voyaging in remote areas.
The US flagged National Geographic Venture will transfer to NBBB’s pier side facility in Langley, Washington for final outfitting and sea trials, before being delivered to Lindblad Expeditions in October 2018.
